Back to School

Well, my plans are set for our return to school tomorrow. The break was awesome, but I'm looking forward to seeing my class. So hard to believe that I only have a few more months with this too cute for words group.

This week we will be focusing on those delightful multiplication facts and problem solving. We have been working on our facts all year so this is a final push. We will review problem solving strategies by working through a mixed problem set. Even though our focus is on multiplication and division...we need more practice deciding which operation to use. I'm throwing in a few problems involving measurement since that unit is coming soon!
Then it's back to fractions for addition and subtraction, but I'm ready with this set that has something for everyone.
Spring Break is over, but I'm going to keep the spring theme going as we review fractions and decimals. This will be for one of our stations this week.
You can find all of the resources in my store...and all on sale through March 29th.

Have a great week!

Sunday Scoop

It's time for another Sunday Scoop with Teaching Trio.
Spring break is finally here! I'm really going to try and make the most of the break. Let's just say...so much I HAVE to do to get caught up.

I HOPE to make plans for the remaining weeks leading up to testing. As we revisit multiplication and division, I will focus on problem solving. My students struggle with figuring out what the question is asking and using the correct operation to find the solution. I created 24 mixed word problems that we will work through after the break.
I am so thankful to the successful TPT Sellers who share their knowledge...like Kayse Morris and Rigorous Resources by Lisa. Their videos have been so helpful.

And, thank you Teaching Trio for the opportunity to link up every week. Be sure to check out their individual blogs! I will be taking a look at the growth mind set read aloud suggestions.

Have a great week!

Sunday Scoop

It's time for another Sunday Scoop with Teaching Trio
I can't believe spring break is here...so much to do this week! I'm hoping to complete my spring word problem resource. My goal has been to prepare at least one new resource each week. The cute clip art for this problem set is pushing me forward.

It wasn't easy getting up this morning...but spring is here!

If you need St. Patrick's Day activities...

Have a great week...and be sure to visit Teaching Trio.

March Resources

This year is flying with just one week until spring break. We are wrapping up fractions so I put together 7 activity pages to review what we've been working on in this unit. My students love anything with a holiday theme...and a chance to color!
We will also review equalities. This resources includes a review sheet and station cards.
I will be working on rounding with a remediation group, and will give this resource to some of my friends who teach in lower grades.
You can find all of the resources in my store.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

POST-IT BOARD

If I had to choose one thing that contributes to success on end of the year assessments, it would be the Post-It Board. This is not fancy, and I'm in desperate need of a new poster...but the information that goes back and forth on that board is priceless.
1. Ordering fractions with like denominators---2. Ordering fractions with like numerators.
After students prepare for the day, they complete 1 or 2 problems and "post" their answers on the board. It gives me a quick snapshot on how they are doing with a particular standard. I can quickly work with students who are struggling with a concept. If the majority of the class would benefit from a quick review, then I go over the problem as part of our morning meeting. I use post-it activities throughout the year, but it's a daily routine in third quarter.

Here is an example of our problems for the week...
In other news...I am linking up with Kelly and Kim's Kindergarten Kreations for Markdown Monday! Check out their blog for sale items.
Properties of Multiplication and Addition is on sale!
If you would like more information about this product, you can read about it here.

That's all for now!

Sunday Scoop

It's time for another Sunday Scoop!
Last Friday we were anticipating another snow day or delayed opening...but woke up to this...
It was a beautiful sight but not much snow. All this to say that with the blizzard, holidays, election day, teacher work days...not to mention testing...we have not had a full week of school. I hardly no where to begin. Panic sets in when I consider spring break is in two weeks! We will get through the rest of March concentrating on fractions.
Hope you have a great week...and check out Teaching Trio. Cassie has a great post on anchor charts!
